By leveraging discarded brewing dregs, the collaboration introduced a synthetic biology-based method to cultivate microbial fibers, achieving large-scale production of 100% bio-based synthetic leather. This innovation redefines sustainable manufacturing, transforming beer waste into high-value eco-materials and closing the resource lifecycle loop.
